Year 3 Class 10 Newsletter 21st May 2018

Date: 18th May 2018 @ 2:53pm

Dear Parents,

It feels strange to have a full week this week, but the children have worked very hard all week.

During RE we learned all about what happened during the Pentecost and the children produced some great work to go along with this in their RE books.  Next week we will complete our final assessment of this half terms work on Easter and Pentecost.

This week in English we have been busy researching and writing our non-chronological reports based on hedgehogs.  The children have really enjoyed learning the skill of note taking and being able to write using technical language.  Next week we'll be writing a recount based on our visit to Chester.

Speaking of next week we will be celebrating One World Week with our study of Syria.  The children will learn all about the country and will produce a class book with all our thoughts and ideas in there.

In maths we've been learning about time and the months of the year.  We even learned a poem to help us remember how many days are in each month - I'm sure you all remember learning this simple rhyme in school too!  It's really useful.

The children have enjoyed swimming this week and every child had the opportunity to go in the big pool!  I was very proud of their efforts and they were equally as excited when they got out.  We will continue to swim each Wednesday until our last week at school.  Please ensure your child has the correct swimming kit each week.

Thank you for helping with homework each week. It's lovely to see your comments in there too about how much you've helped or if they've completed the work independently.  This will be the last homework of the half term, as there won't be any over half term to complete.

Please could you encourage the children to write in their reading journals each week?  The children are starting to forget and need to get back into the habit.  You're more than welcome to write in here as well - what have you been reading with your child?

Thank you for your continued support,

Mr Chris Waterworth
