Year 3 Class 10 Newsletter 23rd April 2018

Date: 19th Apr 2018 @ 12:30pm

Dear Parents,

Wow, what a great first week back!  The children have come back in such a great learning mood - I'm so proud of them all.

We started are week discussing equivalent fractions and how we can spot them using an interactive fraction wall - try it here The children enjoyed spotting equivalence and then being able to order fractions with the same denominator.

During English we started our new book; Hodgeheg, by Dick King Smith.  The children have enjoyed finding out about Max and his adventures walking along the road. Next we'll learn about what he discovers in the park.  How would feel seeing something huge, like a bucket and spade!

We planned our investigation into water transportation in plants this week and we'll be monitoring the progress of the ink next week through the flowers.  There were some great questions asked and we hope to find the answers to these soon.

The children loved their first swimming lesson and I was so proud of the way they behaved.  The children were assessed and grouped this week and they'll start their lessons this week.  Can you please make sure your child has their kit each week, all long hair is tied back and ear rings removed.

During RE we created our title page for our new unit on Easter and Pentecost.  The children water coloured a page and added a cross too.  Mrs Cotterill also came to visit to help some children complete their artwork for our gallery later in the year - I can't wait for you to see all the children's self portraits!

Homework came home on Friday, so please complete this as soon as you can.  It is due in on Wednesday each week.

Thank you for your continued support,

Kind regards,

Mr Chris Waterworth
