Dear Parents,

What an exciting sporty week we've had and it's about to get even sportier!

This week is school sports week and the children will be taking part in a couple of special coaching sessions in football and Tae-Kwon-do. Please make sure your child has their PE kit in school all week, as there may be some more opportunites for the children to be active.  We will be swimming as well on Wednesday afternoon as usual.

It was lovely to see everyone at sports day last week - thankfully we escaped the downpour!  The children really enjoyed themselves and really appreciated all your support.  We all had a great morning and the children loved receiving their stickers - they were so proud!

During English this week we had a class debate based on the subject of school uniform - should we ban it?  It was a really interesting debate with the children learning new phrases on how to sound professional and polite.  The speaker of the house decided we should keep uniform, so please keep sending the children in their smart school uniform.  This week we will be learning how to write persuasively and using these skills to write a letter to the crayons that have quit!  Have a look at the book The Day The Crayons Quit.

We continued our learning about shape and measure this week and focussed on 3D shapes and their properties.  The children will continue to learn about this during the week and may even be constructing things from 3D materials.

It was great to see the children enjoying their learning about computer simulations this week and they have learned so much about why it is important to use simulations instead of real life to keep us safe and save money.  We will continue learning about this important computing subject this week.

During RE the children learned the story of Saul who later became St Paul.  They were amazed with the story and with God's forgiveness and lessons he taught Saul. We discussed how we've been a good Christian this week too.  This week we will explore this story further.

In Science this week the children observed and tested various magnets and what they could do. The children loved exploring the classroom, finding metal objects and then sorted them with a Venn diagram into magnetic, metal and non-magnetic materials.  This week we will learn about how magnets have two poles.

Thank you for helping the children with their homework this week, especially their spellings and tables - we are having some great scores recently and I would love for this to continue.

Please, please, please make sure you come to our Art gallery on 5th July.  The children are so excited to share their artwork with you and you'll even have the chance to purchase a unique piece of art!

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.  Thank you for your continued support,

Mr Chris Waterworth
