Year 3 Class 10 Newsletter 26th February 2018

Date: 15th Feb 2018 @ 8:40am

Dear Parents,

Welcome back after half term.  I hope the children had a wonderful half term and are ready for their new learning adventures.

We begin our journey back to Roman times with our new class book 'Escape from Pompeii' by Christina Balit.  I know the children will love the book and will be able to write a great report on the eruption.  We will then move onto letter writing based around our Roman adventure.  Stay tuned for that one!

During maths we are moving onto measure, so please if you have any measuring up to do at home, let the children practise their maths.  Can you please keep encouraging them to learn their tables?  We've had some brilliant results recently and we would love to keep that momentum going.

We start Athletics this week during PE, so please ensure the children have an outdoor and indoor PE kit this term.  We will be outside as much as possible this half term.  A tracksuit bottom and top will be much appreciated.

During RE this term we start to learn about The Celebration of Mass. The children will produce beautiful art work, learn the story of The Cure the Centurion's Servant and much more.

It's World Book Day on Thursday and the children are invited to dress up as their favourite book character.  Please don't go to huge expense with costumes - a simple prop from a character, or just bring a favourite book into school.  If you have any questions, please get in touch.

Homework will continue to come home on Friday's and is due in on the following Wednesday.  Thank you to everyone who has supported their child with their homework.  Thank you also to everyone who has spent time reading with their child over half term.  It's been great to see so many comments in reading journals.

Spellings will continue to come home on a Monday and will be tested on a Friday - please encourage the children to learn the meanings of the words in sentences as well as the spelling.  A simple oral sentence is perfect for this - put it into context.

It was lovely to see you all at Parents' Evening before half term and to talk about the successes and next steps of the children.  If I didn't speak to you, please get in touch so we can arrange a time that suits.

There's lots more to tell you, so please keep tuned to the school website.

Thank you for your continued support,

Mr Chris Waterworth
