Year 3 Class 10 Newsletter 30th April 2018

Date: 26th Apr 2018 @ 1:50pm

Dear Parents,

The children have worked hard this week and I've been proud of the work they've produced.

We began the week with our fractions adventure and the children picked up from where they left off with finding equivalent fractions and solving problems.  We then moved onto looking comparing fractions and how we can add and subtract fractions with the same denominator.  Next we move onto measurements including capacity and mass.

During English the children created freeze frames to help tell the story of Max's journey across the park.  They then looked at the different skills used in the writing - expanded noun phrases, fronted adverbials and sentence structure.  We'll be writing our own version next week after planning.

Swimming went really well this week and the children enjoyed their lesson.  I saw some full lengths being swam and others starting to learn how to hold their breathe under the water.  Please make sure the children have their kit in school each week.

We planned our Science investigation into water transference and we hope to begin testing next week.  The children are very excited about this.

During RE we learned about the Road to Emmaus and how Jesus appeared to two of his close friends.  The children retold this story by created a storyboard and retelling to each other.  This week we learn the story of Doubting Thomas.

The children enjoyed using the resources of https://hourofcode.com/uk/learn this week.  Have a go yourself - can you solve the coding problems?

Thank you for the effort you all go to help your child with their homework.  I've seen some excellent work this week and the children are very proud.  We had our times tables awards this week and the children were excited to receive their certificates - please keep practising those tables.

You should have received your letter for our Chester trip.  Please could you return the permission letters as soon as possible.

Thank you for your continued support,

Mr Chris Waterworth
