Year 3 Class 10 Newsletter 8th January 2018

Date: 7th Jan 2018 @ 8:57am

Dear Parents,

I hope you've had a wonderful Christmas and are feeling refreshed for the New Year.  I hope the children are excited to be returning to school and are ready for more exciting learning adventures.

This half term we will be exoploring the question - What do I need to grow?  The childten will be learning about human and plant growth, including the skeleton, muscles and healthy eating.  We will be writing diaries based on our science investigation and research and writing traditional poems with rhyming couplets.  The children will also be learning about Roald Dahl and his play Fantastic Mr Fox.

Our maths this half term will concentrate on number and calculation.  The children will be continuing their learning on multiplication and starting to use written methods to divide - we will always be apllying these skills to problem solving activites.  We will also be starting to use our calculation skills when learning about money.  Through our Science we will be looking at statistics and using bar grpahs and pictographs.

During RE we will be learning about 'Reconcillation,' In this unit we look at the Great Commandment and how we sometimes make the wrong choices. We will look at the story of Zacchaeus and learn from his example. We will read the story of The Lost Sheep and learn that God always loves us.

PE will be on a Wednesday afternoon - please ensure the children have the correct PE kit in school at all times.

Homework will come home on Friday's and will need to be completed by the following Wednesday - please look inside the covers to see which pages you need to complete with your children.  There will also be spellings to learn each week - these will come home on a Monday and will be tested on a Friday.

Please, please, please encourge your children to read each night and leave a comment in their reading diaries.  They will need these books everyday, as the children read everyday in class.

If you have any questions, please get in touch,

Mr Chris Waterworth
