Year 3 Class 10 Newsletter 9th July 2018

Dear Parents,

What another lovely week we've had in the sun and what a success the school art gallery was. It was lovely to see so many parents come and see the children's work - they were so very proud of all their hard work.

During RE this week we were inspired by the hymn Walk with Me Oh My Lord.  The children listened to the song and then discussed how they feel knowing that Jesus is walking with them everywhere they go.  The children then talked about how they feel when they go to church and when they pray.

Our English work this week has been great fun!  The children have written some excellent letters from Duncan to the crayons and they were very persuasive.  Next week I have a surprise for the children in the classroom that they will need to write about - stay tuned!

During Maths the children learned about mass.  They compared different scales and learned a new technical word 'increments.'  We used this language to compare different scales and measured different weights.  This week we will continue our learning on mass.

We completed our Science assessment this week on Forces and Magnets.  It was great to read how much the children had learned this half term.  We have one more short unit on light where we will learning about our eyes and how we see things.  There will also be a chance for an experiment.

The children have continued to improve their swimming skills this week and have enjoyed the cool down in the swimming pool in this hot weather.  Please keep sending in plenty of water and hats to help keep the children safe in this weather.

Some children achieved their 4 or 7 times tables certificates last week.  We'll be moving onto the 2s, 6s and 12 times tables this week - keep practising!  Thank you for helping with spellings as well, I've noticed an improvement in scores recently.

It was lovely to see some of our children performing on our school talent show on Friday - I'm pvery proud of their performances.

If you have anything you'd like to ask, please come and see me. Thank you for your continued support,

Mr Chris Waterworth
