Year 3 Class 11 Newsletter 26th November 2018

Date: 25th Nov 2018 @ 5:22pm

Dear Parents,

It really has been a great week in Class 11 this week with the children working so hard in so many areas.  I've seen so many improvements in so many areas this week - I'm feeling very proud.

During RE we had a really interesting discussion around God being truly human and truly God. We discussed miracles and how Jesus inspired us to be a teacher.  Our collective worship focussed around thinking of others and how Jesus taught us to love each other.

The children worked hard during English this week to plan the first part of their flashback stories.  This week we will finish the planning and start writing the opening chapter. The children are very excited and are already looking forward to sharing their ideas with the world.

We enjoyed our mathematics this week with the children learning all about how to add and subtract three digit numbers.  I was very impressed with how many of the calculations they could do mentally.  The children will need to use their formal methods next week when they will need to exchange.

Speaking of maths...did you get the children on Times Tables Rockstars this weekend!  It is a fabulous resource that is completely free to use and I can see from the statistics after three days how much the children are progressing!  Please encourage them to keep their band practice going and climb the leaderboard.  If you have any questions about logging in, then please just ask. ROCK ON!!

During topic this week the children learned about Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age houses and what they used to build them.  They researched each type of home and wrote a short paragraph to share their learning - I was so impressed with their efforts, I ended up giving out two, yes two, blue cards!

This week we begin our Science journey!  The children will learn all about magnetism and forces.  Stay tuned for some amazing experiments!

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at the DISCO on Wednesday night!  See you there and get your dancing shoes on.

Thank you again for your continued support,

Mr Chris Waterworth
