Year 3 Class 11 Newsletter 4th September 2018

Date: 2nd Sep 2018 @ 2:35pm

Hello and welcome back to everyone.  I'm Mr Waterworth and I'm the class teacher in Year 3, class 11.  We had such a great time on move up morning and I'm excited to meeting everyone again this week.

This half term we will be learning all about earthquakes and volcanoes.  We will learn how they are formed, where they are created and the impact they have on our world.  During this time we will also focus on Fossils and how they are created.  We'll learn all about Mary Anning and her amazing work discovering fossils - Mary Anning

During our English we will start to learn about Nigel Gray and Micheal Forman and their book 'I'll take you to Mrs Cole.'  What would happen if you did visit Mrs Cole's house?  What happens in the dungeon!  Why are the children allowed to do what they like?  Mrs Cole

During our first unit of maths we will build on the skills the children have learned in Year 2 around Place Value.  Can you read numbers to 1000?  What happens to a number when we add 100 to it?  Which part of the number changes?

How many of your times tables do you know?  Use these FREE websites to help Hit the button and

During RE we will begin to learn all about our Christian family and how important this is to all of us.

PE will be on a Friday afternoon - please ensure the children have the correct PE kit in school at all times.  We will start our Real PE adventure focussing on the important skills to make us a fantastic athlete.

Homework will come home on Friday's and will need to be completed by the following Wednesday - please look inside the covers to see which pages you need to complete with your children.  There will also be spellings to learn each week - these will come home on a Monday and will be tested on a Friday.

Please, please, please encourage your children to read each night and leave a comment in their reading diaries - these will be checked each week.  They will need these books every day, as the children read every day in class.

There is so much more to tell you, but I will write a short newsletter each week to keep you up to date.

If you have any questions, please get in touch,

Mr Chris Waterworth
