Class 11 Year 3 2017 - 2018

Mrs Messenger

Welcome back to the second half of the Autumn term.

We have got lots planned for this half term. We will firstly be finishing off our science work on rocks and soils and we will be learning all about fossils. Our topic will then turn to a history unit on The Stone Age.

In English we will start this half term with a poetry unit, using fireworks as our theme. Our Fiction theme is adventure story writing based on ‘Stone Age Boy’ by Satoshi Kitamura. This unit will also include letter writing.

We are following White Rose planning for Maths. Our topics will continue on Addition and subtraction and then move on to Multiplication and Division.

In RE our topic is called: Mary, Mother of God

This topic is designed to help the children reflect on the role of Mary. The children will develop their understanding of Advent as a time of preparation for the birth of Jesus and are encouraged to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas. Our class assembly for parents will be on Friday November 17th at 9.10am. We look forward to seeing you there.

As our topic is all about mothers, I will be sharing photographs of the children with their mothers. Please could you email or send in photos so that I can include them in our assembly. Much appreciated.

We will then be turning our attention towards Christmas. Please look out for the Christmas cards that the children designed in September. They are really fantastic and will make great wrapping paper, tags or cards! This is the photo of the trees on the class page!

It’s going to be a very busy half term!
