Mr Waterworth

Hello and welcome to Class 11's webpage.  I'm Mr Waterworth and I'm the class teacher in Year 3, class 11.

This half term the children will be focussing on two science topics - Plants and Light. During theser topics the children will learn all about where light comes from and how it is useful to us.  The children will also have the opportunity to plan an experiement involving the sunlight.

During our Englishwe will be learning all about the story of Hansel and Gretel via a retelling from Anthony Browne.  The children will be learning how to create tension in a story and introduce a character slowly.  They will also be developing their speech.

During Maths this term we will be continuing our Power Maths journey on Fractions.  The children will be learning how to add and subtract fractions and represent fractions in models and images.  From this the children will be able to order and compare fractions.

During RE we will develop the children's understanding of Eater and Pentecost through the story of Emmaus and through Acts 2: 1-13 (Pentecost).  The children will reflect on the celebration of new life and on the signs and symbols of the Easter season.  They will reflect on the importance of belief through the story of 'Doubting Thomas.

PE will be on a Friday afternoon - please ensure the children have the correct PE kit in school at all times.  We will be improving our athletic skills and getting ready for Sports Day

Homework will come home on Friday's and will need to be completed by the following Wednesday - please look inside the covers to see which pages you need to complete with your children.  There will also be spellings to learn each week - these will come home on a Monday and will be tested on a Friday.

Please, please, please encourage your children to read each night and leave a comment in their reading diaries - these will be checked each week.  They will need these books every day, as the children read every day in class.

There is so much more to tell you, but I will write a short newsletter each week to keep you up to date.

If you have any questions, please get in touch,

Mr Chris Waterworth
