Class 12 Year 3 2019 - 2020

Mrs Bevington

Hello and welcome to Class 12’s web page for Spring 2. I enjoyed seeing you all at the Parent’s Evenings last half term.

During this half term Class 12 will be exploring the history of the Stone Age and  Rome and how it has influenced us today. The children will be baking this half term to help develop their food preparation skills.  We will also be attempting to sew an outfit for a Stone Age child. We will also be visiting the Dewa museum in Chester to learn first-hand what it was like during Roman times.

Our Science lessons will investigate plants and water transportation and how plants grow and reproduce.  During PE we will improve our striking and fielding techniques and learn more ways to work as a team.  During Computing, the children will build on their e-safety knowledge and improve their touch typing skills.  We will continue our professional guitar tuition and look forward to performing for you again soon.

During our PSHE sessions the children will learn what it is like to live in Britain and begin to appreciate the range of national, regional, religious and ethnic identities in the UK. During French we will learn to name what is inside their pencil case – Dans Ma Trousse.

During Maths we will continue our Power Maths books focusing on money and convert between pounds and pence and move on to solve addition and subtraction problems relating to money. We will also cover simple statistics which exposes children to a range of ways in which information and data can be presented and interpreted. The children will need to keep learning their tables, so please make sure they are getting on Times Tables Rock Stars!

RE will be all about Celebrating the Mass and all the traditions and sacraments involved in this sacred blessing.  The children will learn about the different parts of the mass and why these are important to Catholics.  They will be running their own collective worships once a week for the whole class to take part in.

PE will be on a Wednesday afternoon - please ensure the children have the correct PE kit in school at all times.  We will be improving our cognitive skills through sport and following Unit 3 of our Real PE scheme of work which involves playing games that improve agility and hand - eye co-ordination.

Homework will come home on Tuesday and should be completed by the following Monday - please look inside the covers to see which pages are to be completed with your children.  There will also be spellings to learn each week - these will come home on a Monday and will be tested on a Friday.

Please actively encourage your children to read each night and leave a comment in their reading diaries - these will be checked each week and Dojo points will be given for each signature.  They will need these reading books and diaries in school every day as they are used in class regularly.

Also, please ensure that the children are logging in to Times Table Rock Stars on a regular basis. This is an important educational tool which will be equipping them with an imperative life skill.  Do jo points will be given for this too.
