Class 19 Year 6 2018 - 2019

Mrs Harding

Welcome to Class 19's page! smiley

Welcome Back!  We hope you've had a relaxing week and are ready to focus on the next 8 weeks leading up to the SAT tests.

English

In English we will be looking at letter writing, narrative writing and arguments. We will be using example texts to help us before innovating and inventing our own versions.

We will also be revising grammar terms and practicing test technique to prepare for the questions on the SPaG SATs in May.

Maths

Our maths work this term will continue to be centred on our new scheme ‘Power Maths’. Our topics this term will include : percentages, algebra, area & perimeter, statistics and geometry.

The children will bring home practise questions to help them revise and apply their skills. Please support your child as much as possible.

We will also continue to develop our written and mental arithmetic skills as well as improving rapid recall of multiplication facts to 12 x 12.

R.E Jesus the Messiah

This topic gives the children a deepening understanding of Jesus and allows them to reflect on what they believe about their faith.  They will understand that Jesus is the Messiah and will learn about the final journey that Jesus made to Jerusalem.  In addition to this, they will know about, and reflect upon the events of Holy Week and will deepen their understanding of the Resurrection.

Topic

We will be continuing this half term with our learning about Light and Electricity.  We will also begin studying World War II and are excited for our trip to kick start our learning at The Imperial War Museum North in February.  The children will learn about the reasons for the war starting, key dates and events and how the war ended.

If you require any more information in relation to our learning this half term then please refer to the 'Curriculum Map' which is attached as a link within this page.

As always, thank you for your continued level of support. If you require any further information, including important calendar dates, then please refer to the curriculum map which can be downloaded directly from this page.

Good luck Year 6 - we can do this!

Mrs Harding.
