Class 20 Year 6 2018 - 2019

Mrs MacPherson

KEEP CALM AND ENJOY YEAR 6 PosterWelcome to Class 20's page! smiley

Welcome back!  We hope that you have enjoyed a well-deserved break and are ready to embark upon your final half-term as Year 6. How quickly has this school year flown?!

We have a very busy few weeks ahead of us with lots of exciting things planned including Sports Day, Primary College and of course our fabulous Ties and Tiaras evening (don't forget to purchase your tickets from the school office!)

English

This half-term we will apply our skills to a range of genre using images, film clips and model texts as a stimulus for our pieces of writing. We will continue to develop our narrative skills in particular, incorporating dialogue into narrative in order to advance action and to portray character.

Maths

In Maths this half-term we will develop our mathematical skills through a range of problem solving and reasoning activities. We will continue to practise and consolidate all of the skills that we have learnt this year in order to improve confidence and reinforce mathematical thinking.

R.E - Called to Serve

In this topic we will learn that we are all called to be disciples and will reflect on our own responses to this invitation. We will learn about the Sacrament of Confirmation, what this does for us and how we can use the gifts of the Holy Spirit in our daily lives.  The Sacraments of Marriage and Holy Orders are also studied and we will reflect on the many ways to serve God.  We will understand what it means to be a living witness and how we can use our gifts now and in the future.

Topic

During the first few weeks of the half-term we will be completing our World War 2 topic and will look closely at some of the key events and dates during this period.

In our final topic of the school year, we will discover where and when the Maya built their magnificent civilisation. We will develop a range of skills whilst investigating how the Maya lived, their culture and the legacy they left behind.

If you require any more information in relation to our learning this half term then please refer to the 'Curriculum Map' which is attached as a link within this page.
