Class 21 Year 6 2017 - 2018

Miss Hough

Welcome to Class 21's page! smiley

Welcome back to school! We hope you had a restful Christmas holiday surrounded by family and friends.

This term in our History and Geography topic work we will be studying Ancient Egypt and we will be visiting Manchester Museum, taking part in their taught sessions about Ancient Egypt and exploring the ancient artifacts they have there.

Our English work will still be mainly grammar based and we will be building up to writing an adventure story and a biography using our new skills. We will end the half term with a unit of poetry.

In Maths we will continue our work within the four operations and will be especially focussing on honing our arithmetic skills ready for the up-coming SATs tests. We will be developing our problem solving and reasoning skills further using our knowledge of number and we will also be studying some geometry and interpreting data in the form of graphs and diagrams.

As always there will be a focus on recall of multiplication and division facts to 12x12. We will have a test each Friday, this will give you an opportunity to achieve your Bronze, Silver and Gold awards!

Remember to practise your times tables regularly at home, as this will support you in all areas of your Maths work!

In R.E. this term we will be exploring the Mass and learning about the sacred meaning to the rituals involved in this solemn occasion.

So, as you can see, we are all set for a busy half term indeed.

We are looking forward to seeing you all at the upcoming Parents' Evenings in February to discuss your child's progress thus far.

If you would like to find out more about what we will be learning this half term then please refer to the 'Files to Download' link below, where you will be able to find our curriculum map for the first half of the Spring term.

I look forward to yet another exciting and busy half term with Class 21!

Miss Hough.
