In English this half term we will continue to share the book 'The Land of Never Believe' by Norman Messenger.

We will begin with a descriptive comparision of the settings of 'The Spooky Dark Mountains' and the 'Book Mountains'. Further within the unit we will focus on writing non-chronological reports about a mythical creature, taking inspiration from the book itself.

Our spelling, grammar and punctuation focuses will include:
-    Carefully chosen vocabulary and the use of synonyms.
-    Advanced sentence structure using different punctuation.
-    Varying the length of sentences for effect.
-    Paragraphing.
-    Creating cohesi
on.

In Maths we will be focusing on developing our fluency of written methods for the four operations whilst applying our skills through reasoning and problem solving activities. Towards the end of the half term we will be consolidating our understanding of fractions which will include adding and subtracting fractions with different denominators, multiplying pairs of equivalent fractions and using common factors to simplify fractions.

As always there will be a focus on recall of multiplication and division facts to 12x12. We will have a test each Friday, this will give you an opportunity to achieve your Bronze, Silver and Gold awards!

Remember to practise your times tables regularly at home, as this will support you in all areas of your Maths work!

If you would like to find out more about what we will be learning this half term then please refer to the 'Files to Download' link below, where you will be able to find our curriculum map for the second half of the Autumn term.

I look forward to an exciting and busy half term with Class 21!

Miss Hough.
