Happy New Year!

We hope that you have all had a happy and restful break and are looking forward to 2018. We have lots of exciting activities planned for this term.

In English we will be reading traditional tales, beginning with the Little Red Hen.  We will learn how to write sentences using a capital letter and full stop, and will begin to sequence sentences to tell stories. In Maths we will count, read, write and order numbers to at least 20 and begin to work with numbers to 100. We will practise all our number bonds to 20. We will learn that addition is counting on and adding more whereas subtraction is the opposite.

Our RE topic is Families and Celebrations. We will learn about going to church and what happens at a baptism, and about some if the things that Jesus did with his own family.

The children will continue to have access to a wide range of colour banded books which they can choose and change within the classroom. Please continue to make sure that your child is reading every day and that any reading completed at home is recorded in their reading diaries.

Remember PE lessons will be on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. Please make sure your child has a PE kit (indoor and outdoor) in school. Homework will be given out on a Friday and is to be returned on the followingThursday.

Our updated curriculum map is available on the website, which will give further information on all of the above.

We are looking forward to having a fantastic term in year 1!

Many thanks for all your support.
