Class 5 Year 1 2016 - 2017

Mrs Cosby

Mrs Parkinson

Welcome back!

We begin the half term with One World Week. Year 1 will be learning about France and will taste food, learn songs and vocabulary and create artwork in the style of Henri Roussea.

Our topic focus this half term is history and we will be learning about how cars and trains have changed over time.

In English we will use speaking and listening and drama techniques to build up to writing our own stories based on 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. We will also read a variety of Eric Carle stories and will use them as a stimulus to create wonderful collages and fantastic writing.

In maths we will be covering addition, subtraction and multiplictation and will try to use what we know to solve problems. We will also learn about position and direction; including whole, quarter an half turns.

Thank you to all the parents who are commenting in the reading diaries. We value your comments as they let us know how the children are reading at home.

We look forward to our final half term with Class 5.
