Nursery News! Summer Term

Nursery News – Summer Term 2017

Welcome back to Summer Term 2!  We have come to the end of our "Supertato" theme which was a huge success and now we are finding out about The Very Hungry Caterpillar with the arrival of our live caterpillars!  There are a number of events that have been planned for the last few weeks of the Summer Term - see below.  In July we will say "Good bye" to 31 of our children who will transfer to Reception classes and there are 10 children who will remain with us in nursery

PE lessons have been going very well, with many children really getting the idea of getting changed and dressed again. They are becoming quite independent. PE lessons take place on Monday mornings and Friday afternoons. Please make sure that your child has PE kit – red t-shirt (with school logo), dark blue shorts/leggings/jogging bottoms and pumps/trainers on these days.

Dates for this term:

Sports Day – Friday 30th June – Children will attend nursery as usual. Sports day races will take place at 10.30 am and 2.00 pm, followed by a medal presentation ceremony. All parents and families are invited to come and join us at these times. If your child does not usually attend nursery on a Friday, they are invited to take part in either session – please see nursery staff to be added to the list.

“Science is Fun” + Open Day

Our “Science is Fun” day has been planned for Wednesday 12th July. Children attend nursery as usual and you are invited to join us at either 10.30 am or 2.00 pm to have a go at some Early Years Science activities. Nursery sessions end at the usual time. Children who don’t usually attend nursery on Wednesday are welcome to come along with a parent/adult at either 10.30 am or 2.00 pm. (Please see a member of staff to book a place). As Science is Fun takes place on St. Mary’s School Open Afternoon (for the rest of the school), Nursery Children’s Learning Journeys will be available for you to share with your child as well.

Fairies, Princesses and Superheroes Picnic

On Thursday 20th July we are planning to end the year with a celebration picnic. Nursery sessions will start and end at usual times. Children are invited to dress up as Fairies, Princesses or Superheroes. Please join us at 10.45 am or 2.15 pm and bring a small picnic to share with your child. If your child does not usually attend nursery on a Thursday you are invited to come along for the picnic - please see nursery staff to be added to the list.
