Welcome to our Class webpage for Summer Term 2022!
I cannot believe that this is the last stretch of our year together. It seems to have flown by.
Please continue to connect through our Class DoJo system to enable important messages to be shared as well as enjoying your child’s successes as they collect Dojo points.
This is our communication system, both for individual contact and for class and school-wide information. Please make sure that you are checking the information on there regularly.
Teachers have lots to do, as I am sure you understand, so Mrs Wright has introduced ‘office hours’ for the DoJo system which means that I will often be unable to respond to messages over weekends, during school holiday periods, or during direct teaching sessions. Please be mindful of this.
Make sure your child wears full school uniform which includes a tie. During PE lessons your child must also wear the correct school PE kit. Please check their trainers and/or pumps as their feet are likely to have grown since September and they may need new ones. Please also encourage pupils with long hair, to wear it tied back, especially on PE days as it becomes a safety hazard.
Please remember, we are back to normal school hours and we are still using our one way, drop and go system as it worked so well for everyone.
Our gates will open at 8.45am and close at 9.00am – so don’t be late! Children may enter the school building from 8:45 am.
Gates re-open around 3.10pm and school will finish at 3.15pm
Here is some curriculum and class organisation information:
Our topic for this term is ‘Cities and Light’ more information about this can be found on our Curriculum Map.
We will be doing a mixture of Gymnastics and Athletics in P.E. sessions. Our P.E. day is Tuesday and children must please bring their kits in order to be able to access these important lessons fully. Kits can be taken home at the end of each half term and returned to school, washed, after the holidays.
Children are expected to read at least three times a week at home, to an adult, and evidence of this must be entered on the child’s portfolio on Class Dojo. This can be a quick note or some video or photographic evidence. Children may change their reading books as and when they are completed. Please don’t continue to battle with a book they are not enjoying, just change it. There is nothing worse than wading through a book that isn’t your type.
Spelling tests take place on Friday of each week and new spelling words to learn for the test will be sent home on Monday of each week.
Times tables tests take place on Friday too. Logging in to Times Table Rock Stars regularly is essential to ensure that children are progressing through their learning of the times tables and developing quick and accurate recall of these.
Other homework will be set weekly via Microsoft TEAMS. Please ensure that you are logging in to this regularly to ensure completion of the homework tasks set each week. If you are having problems with Logging in or have some computer issues please let me know via Class Dojo so that we can make alternative arrangements for homework to be completed. It is an important part of the curriculum and is imperative in teaching children skills of independence and responsibility.
If you have any other queries don’t hesitate to contact me via the Class Do-Jo.
Thank you for your continued support,
