Welcome to Class 15

Welcome to our new Class webpage!
After a challenging six months, we are so excited to be back at school!
We have all settled in well so far, so please find below some curriculum and class organisation information:
Our topic for this term is ‘Invaders and Settlers’ – the children will spend time learning all about historical periods in Britain, both of the Anglo-Saxon and Viking era. They will learn of settlements and invasions and will focus on how the two differed and the similarities between these two periods in History. They are thoroughly enjoying the work we have completed on this so far!
P.E
We will be doing P.E. on Wednesday’s – although this will change once swimming begins. Children must have their PE kits in school on a Monday morning if these have been taken home on a Friday, however these can be left in the children’s lockers until the end of term. Please ensure your child has a suitable outdoor P.E kit, including some form of trousers (jogging bottoms or leggings) for days when it is raining. They will also require a waterproof coat.
Reading
Reading tracking will now be done using Class Dojo – rather than our old system of reading diaries. Please upload a video or photograph of your child reading at least 3 times per week so that this can be monitored, letting me know which pages they have read so that I am able to talk to them about their reading. 1 dojo per time read at home will also be given as a reward.
Spelling
Spelling tests will take place on a Friday, and new spellings will be given out on a Friday for the following week. These will be given to the children in their small blue spelling books. Please practice these at home with your children, it is really important that these are practiced at home as well as during in-school activities.
Time Tables
Times tables tests take place on Friday’s, however may sometimes be on a Monday morning. Practicing using ‘Times Table Rockstars’ at home is paramount as Y4 children will be sitting a statutory test at the end of the year due to new government requirements.
