Everyone needs to connect to our Class do-jo system to enable important and interesting messages to be shared as well as celebrating all the do-jo points being collected for amazing work, good attitude, great manners and stand out moments!

Please remember, all our COVID safety measures are still in place this term and we must continue to follow the guidance.

Topics This Term

This half term, in Science, we will be exploring materials in our ‘Shaping Up!’ unit. We will learn about the uses of everyday materials including wood, plastic, metal, glass, brick, paper and cardboard and some materials can change shape


In RE, we will be finding out about ‘The Good News’. In this unit, we will learn about the Holy Family, and know that Jesus chose some helpers. We will know the story of the Ten Lepers, know that Jesus worked a miracle to feed the hungry crowd and finally know that Jesus cured a man who was paralysed.

Physical Education

In PE, we will learn and practise a variety of skills, including rolls, jumps and balances. The children will develop their control, agility and coordination. Each lesson focuses on a particular skill and children have the chance to apply their learning in a variety of ways. By the end of the unit, the children will build their own gymnastic sequences, both individually and with a partner.


Reading books will be changed on a Monday and Thursday. We will use Class Dojo to communicate comments about reading. Parents are to message the class teacher with a comment, photograph or video based on their child’s reading. The children will then receive a Dojo point for each comment made.

Our Writing this half term will focus around the book ‘The Dragon Machine’ by Helen Ward. The children will learn the story following Talk4Writing methods and will write their own innovated version of the story. Following on from this, we will explore report writing through the text ‘The Tree Dragon.’


This half term we will be learning to spell further common exception words and adding suffixes to words. We will also be writing simple dictated sentences to apply our knowledge of spelling patterns.


In Maths, we will focus on solving problems with Multiplication and Division in the x2, x3 x5 and x10 times tables. We will then move onto beginning to interpret and construct simple pictograms, tally charts, block diagrams and simple tables. As well as learning to ask and answer questions about totalling and compare categorical data. We will compare and order lengths, mass, volume/capacity and record the results using >, < and = Please remember to log into Numbots regularly to build up speed and fluency with your number bonds!
