Class 8 Year 2 2019 – 2020
Welcome to Class 8’s Home Page!
Welcome back to our final term of Year 2!
This half term during our Geography topic, we will be learning about the ‘Sensational Safari’. This unit will teach the children about the geography of Kenya through focusing on the main human and physical features of the country. We will learn about the key geographical features, including Kenyan wildlife, landscapes and culture. We will also learn about the similarities and differences between Kenya and the UK along with continuing to develop our geographical skills through a variety of fun and interactive activities.
During Maths, we will learn about ‘Problem solving and efficient methods’, ‘how to tell the time’, concluding with ‘weight, volume and temperature’. We will also begin to focus on learning our 2s, 5s, and 10 times tables and will complete a weekly times table challenge during our Maths lessons. These games may help your child to learn their times tables in fun and interactive ways: https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/5-7-years/times-tables.
Our P.E day will continue to be a Tuesday, please remember your kits. Homework will be given out on a Friday and is due to be handed in the following Wednesday. Weekly spellings will be put into children’s Spelling Practice books every Friday and will be tested the following Friday. It is very important that these are practised regularly alongside the Year 1 and 2 common exception words – a copy of which can be found in the ‘Files’ section of this page. Please remember to read with your child at least three times per week and record this in the Reading Diary.
Further details of our topics and objectives for this half term can be found in the attached Curriculum Map.
Many thanks for your continued support.
