Welcome to Class 9
Welcome to our new Class webpage!
After a challenging six months, we are so excited to be back at school!
We have all settled in well so far, so please find below some curriculum and class organisation information:
Our topic for this half term is Animals Including Humans. In this unit, the children will learn about how humans and other animals are born, how they grow and what they need to survive and be healthy. The children will classify different kinds of animal babies, learn about the basic needs that are shared by humans and animals, and research the differing needs of animals within our care.
Focusing their own experiences, the children will explore the need for humans to eat a varied diet, to keep themselves clean, and to take regular exercise. Our Knowledge and Skills organiser for this unit can be found below.
We will be doing P.E. on a Monday. PE kits will be sent home with your child at the end of each half term to enable them to be washed thoroughly and are to be returned on the first day of the new term. Plain navy blue jogging bottoms maybe needed once the weather turns cooler as all PE will be outdoors.
Reading books will be changed on a Monday and Thursday. We will use Class Dojo to communicate comments about reading. When you read with your child at home, please message us on Class Dojo to let us know and we will give your child a Dojo point.
Homework will be given out on a Friday and collected in on the following Wednesday. At the front of the homework book you will find a grid with the date and title of the homework set for each week. Please only complete one page per week. The children also need to practice their knowledge of number bonds. They can do this using the Numbots Website or App.
We are getting used to communicating with Parents through our Class do-do system, both for individual contact and for school-wide information.
Because teachers have got lots to do, Mrs Fau-Goodwin has introduced ‘office hours’ for the Do jo system which means that I will be unable to respond to messages over weekends, during school holiday periods, during direct teaching sessions, after 4.00pm or prior to 8.30am.
