The Choir

Welcome to St Mary’s School Choir! The Choir has been in existence for seven years. In that time it has developed out of all recognition and is now extremely active and well-known in the local community, with a constant round of engagements – building bridges with other schools, church and community groups, diocesan and national organisations, and performing  at civic functions.

We have performed for three Mayors, four Bishops and a Duchess. We have twice been finalists in the Cheshire East Schools Music Competition and won the Rotary International Cheshire District “Youth Sings” competition in 2012. We sang for the Olympic torch relay and the Mayor’s Jubilee street party in Crewe; and we gave a Peace Concert for the start of the Olympic truce at St Martin-in-the-Fields in London. We sang peace songs on Remembrance Day 2013 at Salford Cathedral, and performed in Chester Cathedral for Christian Unity at the beginning of 2014.

More recently we have given Peace Concerts for Armed Forces Day, for the World War 1 centenary, for the children of Gaza, and for Unicef’s Sing For Syria campaign. Our Christmas programme was as packed as ever, with six gigs in four weeks. In 2016 we shall be competing in “Youth Sings”, joining in with Creative Crewe events, singing in the Lyceum in a Cheshire schools concert, coordinating a joint celebration of UN Peace Day, and publically launching our latest song “Ghost Train In A Railway Town”.
