Extra Help and Family Support

At our school, we understand that sometimes families may need a little extra help to support their children’s wellbeing, safety, and development. We are committed to working closely with families to ensure every child has the support they need to thrive.

We follow the Family Help approach used across Cheshire East, which places children, young people, and families at the centre of all decision-making. We recognise that families are the experts in their own lives, and we work in partnership to build on strengths and address any concerns together.

How support works

Families can receive Extra and Targeted Family Help from a range of trusted professionals who already know them. This may include school staff, health professionals, and Family Help Workers. By working together, we ensure support is joined-up, consistent, and tailored to each family’s needs.

Each family receiving support will have a Lead Professional. This is the main point of contact who will:

  • Work closely with the family
  • Keep everyone informed and updated
  • Organise and lead meetings
  • Record plans and progress
  • Ensure the support in place is making a positive difference

What support involves

Support is designed to be practical, collaborative, and focused on achieving the best outcomes for children and families. It includes:

Understanding needs
The Lead Professional will work with the family to look at:

  • What is going well
  • What people may be worried about
  • What support is needed to achieve positive outcomes

Creating and reviewing a plan
Together, a clear plan will be developed that reflects the family’s goals and strengths. This plan is regularly reviewed to make sure it is working effectively and helping the family move forward.

If you feel your family could benefit from extra support, please speak to a member of our school team, or contact the Family Help Front Door Team at Cheshire East Council familyhelpfrontdoor@cheshireeast.gov.uk Tel: 0300 123 5012 (option 3, option 1) . We are here to listen, support, and work alongside you every step of the way.
