Class 10 Year 3 2019 - 2020

Miss Rainford

Hello and welcome to Class 10's webpage smiley.  I'm Miss Rainford and I'm the class teacher in Year 3, Class 10.

This half term in Geography we will be learning all about earthquakes and volcanoes.  We will learn how they are formed, where they are created and the impact they have on our world. We will also learn all about the Ring of Fire where all the most dangerous volcanoes are situated. During this term, we will also focus on Fossils and how they are created in our Science lessons.  We'll learn all about Mary Anning and her amazing work discovering fossils - Mary Anning

During our first unit of maths we will build on the skills the children have learned in Year 2 around Place Value.  We will be looking at using place value counters, base ten equipment and number lines using a range of different scales to help build on the children's knowledge.

In our English lessons we will be looking at an old school favourite book by Roald Dahl, the children are already really looking forward to getting immersed into this book - Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. We'll be looking at the characters, inventing chocolate bars, creating our own 'naughty' child and writing our very own lost chapter.

Times Table Rockstars enlightened

Use these FREE websites to help you to learn your times tables Hit the button and  In the first few weeks your child will be given a log in for Times Table Rockstars.  This program is free, available on the children's tablets, phones and computers.  It is an amazing learning tool and one the children will love. I have also attached your childs log in details to the files, should you need reminding of what this is.

During RE we will begin to learn all about our Christian family and how important this is to all of us.  We will make links to our own families and the importance of being a part of the Christian familiy within school.

PE will be on a Thursday morning - please ensure the children have the correct PE kit in school at all times.  We will start our Real PE adventure. We will also do the Golden Mile (weather permitting) so please make sure that PE kits are in school every day.

Homework will come home on Friday's and will need to be completed by the following Wednesday - please look inside the covers to see which pages you need to complete with your children.  - Spelling tests will be held on a Friday and new weekly spellings will be given out on a Monday in order for you to practise them, ready for the test the following Friday. It is SO important that you continue to learn these. Each week someone will be awarded 'star speller' (keep practising and this could be you)!

Please, please, please encourage your children to read each night and leave a comment in their reading diaries - these will be checked each week.  They will need these books every day, as the children read every day in class.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch,
