This term have there are lots of exciting things to look forward to, including: World book day, Sing Up Day, and our Class assembly! smiley

This half term in History, we will continue to explore the history of The Stone Age.  The children will be travelling back through time to explore where our first tools came from, how people lived and create their very own cave paintings using a range of artistic equipment such as water colours and pastels! They will learn all about the timeline of the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age era of Britain and how very different things were back then! - The Stone Age

For Computing this half term, the children will learn all about online safety and how to use email safely – can you spot a spam email and know what to do with it? mail

We will continue our professional guitar tuition with Nathan & Jack and look forward to performing for you near the end of the half term. We have learned so much & tried so hard so can't wait for you to see what we have been up to!

During our PSHE sessions the children will learn how to recognise achievements, identify strengths and set goals for the future.

In this terms French lessons, the children will continue with their topic ‘’ They will learn greetings, say how they are feeling and know how to say their age in French.

During our next units of Power Maths we will continue to work on the focus of last term, and also build on our addition and subtraction knowledge! When we move onto multiplication and division, we begin to learn how to multiply and divide numbers.  Throughout this topic, the children will develop their 3, 4 and 8 times-tables and find remainders to calculations. We will be using bar models to help us visualise multiplication problems and recognise when groups are equal and when they are not.  It is essential that your child is using Times Tables Rockstars throughout this topic to help the really succeed with their learning. The children will then be moving onto looking at money and statistics where they will work out how to add and subtract using money and learn to give change. They will read and interpret data given in tables, graphs and pictograms.

In our English lessons we will be looking at a book that links to our History topic, 'The Stone Age Boy'. We will begin by learning how to construct and write an informal letter response based on a model text. We will then move onto using our knowledge of the story to write a flashback of Peter's time when he visited the Stone Age and made a new friend called 'Om'.

During RE, our topic focus is 'Celebrating the Mass': This topic is designed to develop the children's knowledge and understanding of the Mass.  The children will reflect on the importance of Sunday as a day of rest and the varied reasons why Catholics got to Mass.  They will learn about different parts of the Mass and the meaning of each. They will learn the significance of each part of Mass and the reflection required. This will help with the broadening and reinforcing of their faith.

PE will be on a Thursday morning - please ensure the children have the correct PE kit in school at all times.  We will start our Real PE adventure. We will also do the Golden Mile (weather permitting) so please make sure that PE kits are in school every day. Our focus this term will be gymnastics where we will practice a variety of jumps, rolls and balances on the mats.

Homework will come home on Friday's and will need to be completed by the following Wednesday - please look inside the covers to see which pages you need to complete with your children.  - Spelling tests will be held on a Friday and new weekly spellings will be given out on a Monday in order for you to practise them, ready for the test the following Friday. It is SO important that you continue to learn these. Each week someone will be awarded 'star speller' (keep practising and this could be you)!

Please, please, please encourage your children to read each night and leave a comment in their reading diaries - these will be checked each week.  They will need these books every day, as the children read every day in class.
