Class 10 Year 3 2018 - 2019

Miss Rainford

Hello and welcome to Class 10's webpage smiley.  I'm Miss Rainford and I'm the class teacher in Year 3, class 10.

This half term we will continue travelling back in time to learn all about our Roman history. We will be will be learning all about life during the Roman times. We will focus on things such as: what they ate, what kind of things they wore and all about the invasion of Europe! Later in the term we will be taking a trip to visit a Roman city and have a look at an amputheatre! How exciting!

We will also be studying the local city of Chester later in the term.

During our English we will continue our Roman theme by starting to write a newspaper report based on the book Escape from Pompeii.  The children will learn to retell the story and enjoy using their drama skills to reenact scenes, thinking what it would have been like to actually be there.  We will try to use Green Screen technology to actually put the children in the city of Pompeii when they are reporting.

Later in the term we will look at the book The Firework Makers Daughter and use this to write some stories.

During Maths this term we will be continuing our Power Maths journey delving a little deeper to improve our Multiplication and Divisionskills. We will also keep practicing our times tables. Times Table Rockstars has been a HUGE hit with most of class 10 - I thoroughly appreciate your support in developing their skills by enabling them to access this at home. Lets see if we can beat Class 11 this term! As the term progresses, we will also be looking at money and statistics during our Power Maths lessons.

During RE we will begin to learn all about Reconciliation.  The children will learn all about why saying sorry and asking for forgiveness helps us to better Christians.  The children will also be running their own collective worships again this term for the whole class to take part in.

PE will continue to be on a Thursday morning - please ensure the children have the correct PE kit in school at all times.  We will be improving our gymnastics skills and learning a routine that we will hopefully perform to other classes.

Homework will come home on Friday's and will need to be completed by the following Wednesday - please look inside the covers to see which pages you need to complete with your children.  There will also be spellings to learn each week - these will come home on a Monday and will be tested on a Friday.

Please, please, please encourage your children to read each night and leave a comment in their reading diaries - these will be checked each week.  They will need these books every day, as the children read every day in class.

There is so much more to tell you, but if you need to ask any questions, please do not hesitate to do so!

If you have any questions, please get in touch,

Miss Louise Rainford
